Consul General Uyama delivers his remarks
Mr. Sakai tells a story from World War II
On Saturday, November 9, Consul General Uyama delivered remarks at the Veterans Day Tribute to Asian and Pacific Islander American Veterans at the Military Intelligence Service Historic Learning Center in the Presidio of San Francisco with Mrs. Uyama. The event marked the 6th anniversary of the opening of the facility. 442nd Regimental Combat Team (RCT) veteran Lawson Sakai also delivered remarks. Anthony Brown’s Asian American Orchestra gave a live performance in collaboration with San Francisco’s second Poet Laureate Janice Mirikitani, who recited poetry for the act. Ms. Mirikitani was awarded the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation this past June.
