On Tuesday, December 17, Consul General Uyama hosted the JAJA (Japanese Americans and Japanese in America) & Friends year-end bonenkai reception at his residence. JAJA is a grassroots organization that aims to bring together the Japanese American and Japanese national communities. It originated in New York City and was founded by people of Japanese ancestry. The year-end bonenkai reception was the third event for JAJA in San Francisco, and the evening was co-hosted by the U.S.-Japan Council (USJC) and the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Northern California (JCCNC). Around 70 guests were in attendance.

As the special guest of the evening, Mr. Glen S. Fukushima, Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress, shared his insights into U.S. presidential politics in a conversation with Dr. Murase, who serves as Director of the San Francisco Department on the Status of Women.
