“Walk in U.S., Talk on Japan” Visits Northern California

On Tuesday, February 11, members of the “Walk in U.S., Talk on Japan” (※) delegation visited Sacramento. At the California State Capitol, they met with State Senators Susan Rubio, Scott Wiener, Anna M. Caballero, and Dr. Richard Pan. During these meetings, they discussed the future of the Japan-U.S. relationship. The delegation also met with leaders of the Sacramento Tree Foundation to discuss their work and exchange views.
The next day, on Wednesday, February 12, the delegation met with Millbrae City officials, including Mayor Reuben Holober, city council members, and leaders of the Millbrae Sister Cities Commission. In the evening, Consul General MAEDA Toru co-hosted a reception with the Japan Society of Northern California at his official residence. During the reception, the members of the delegation each gave presentations of their work and had the opportunity to meet local leaders, sister city members, and students.
(※) From 2014 onwards, “Walk in U.S., Talk on Japan” has taken place in various regions of the U.S., highlighting Japan’s attractiveness and appeal. Participants from Japan who have volunteered to join the program come from diverse a range of backgrounds, but all have some connection to the U.S. While travelling through various major U.S. cities, each group takes part in local grassroots exchanges, discussing important factors of the future of the Japan-U.S. relationship, and recent positive developments in Japan.
