Deputy Consul General Iryu Attends Day of Remembrance Event in Fresno

On Saturday, February 16, the Japanese American Citizens League's Central California District Council held a Day of Remembrance ceremony at the Fresno County Historical Museum. Deputy Consul General Iryu attended this event with Honorary Consul of Japan in Fresno Dale Ikeda and delivered remarks. Hundreds of local people participated in the event, including U.S. Congressman Jim Costa, who delivered remarks about the importance of the friendship between the U.S. and Japan. During the event, special commendations were awarded to Mr. Saburo Masada, a former Japanese American internee during WWII, Ms. Elizabeth Laval, producer of the documentary movie Silent Sacrifice, and Mr. Jeff Aiello, director of Unbroken Honor.
