2020/9/10

On Friday, August 28, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco, in partnership with the Ikebana Teachers Federation, held a virtual Ikebana lecture and demonstrations.
The program began with remarks by Consul General Maeda and honored guest San Francisco Supervisor Dean Preston. Consul General Maeda expressed his gratitude to the audience and Ikebana teachers, and Supervisor Preston, whose jurisdiction includes San Francisco Japantown, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to learn about Japanese traditional culture and the Consulate’s efforts despite the current challenging situation.
During the lecture, the audience learned about the origins and basics of Ikebana, while observing connections and distinctions between four of the different schools represented throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
