On Thursday, March 11, “Unshakable Friendship Beyond Borders” was held online in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Around 280 people joined to remember the victims of the disaster and share some of the many stories of Japan-U.S. exchange following the disaster.

In the program, former United States Ambassador to Japan H.E. John Roos gave a message. The Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California presented their Northern Japan Earthquake Relief Fund. The U.S.-Japan Council, together with Softbank and UC Berkeley introduced the TOMODACHI Softbank Summer Program. Crescent City, Del Norte County and Rikuzentakata presented the establishment and growth of their sister city relationship.

The Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco would like to express its deepest gratitude to the individuals and organizations that have committed their tireless efforts and continued support toward the recovery of Japan.
