Grant Program to Strengthen Livelihood and Business Foundations for Japanese Nationals Overseas and People of Japanese Descent (Nikkei)

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan will provide financial support to Japanese nationals overseas and people of Japanese descent (Nikkei) whose livelihoods have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The program is designed to support projects to prevent the spread of infection and to support the creation of environments conducive to business in Japanese expatriate and Nikkei communities through overseas Japanese associations, Japanese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Nikkei groups, etc.

Application Period: Monday, March 15, 2021 to Friday, July 30, 2021
Project Implementation Period: Monday, May 17, 2021 to Friday, December 31, 2021
(Please read the application documents carefully regarding the application and project implementation periods.)

Maximum award for a single project will range from 3 million yen to 25 million yen (approximately from $27,000 to $225,000). The awarded amount will be determined with due consideration given to a range of factors, including the number of envisioned project beneficiaries who are either Japanese nationals or Nikkei, and the scale/nature of the project.
