On Friday, May 14, the California-Japan Sister Cities Spring Workshop was held virtually, tri-hosted by Consul General Maeda, Consul General Akira Muto of the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles, and the California-Japan Sister Cities Network (CJSCN). Sister cities of both Northern and Southern California were invited, with a total of about 200 individuals from 63 sister cities registered as attendance. Under the theme of “Citizen Diplomacy through Technology and Innovation”, participants learned best practices from San Diego-Yokohama virtual exchanges and networked with each other in small groups. On this occasion, Consul General Maeda and Consul General Muto presented a Commendation to CJSCN, and Consul General Maeda presented a Commendation to the City of Crescent City, County of Del Norte, and the City of Rikuzentakata, thanking them for their contributions to the deepening of mutual understanding and friendship between California and Japan.
