Consul General Maeda Attends USS San Francisco Memorial Ceremony

On Sunday, May 30, the USS San Francisco Memorial Ceremony was held online. Since 2017, the Consul General of Japan has been invited as an official representative of Japan to this annual memorial ceremony, coordinated by the USS San Francisco Memorial Foundation.
In his remarks, on behalf of the people and government of Japan, Consul General Maeda offered condolences to the souls who lost their lives in the war. Consul General Maeda also stated that the San Francisco Peace Treaty, signed by Japan, the United States, and 47 other countries in 1951, marked the beginning of a new era of peace and cooperation, and that the Japan-U.S. alliance is stronger than ever, as the cornerstone of peace and security in the Indo-Pacific region.
