Virtual “handshake” between the two Mayors
On Monday, July 26, the signing ceremony of a sister city agreement between the cities of Foster City, California and Inagi, Japan was held. Mayors of both cities signed copies of the agreement in California and Japan, and engaged in a virtual “handshake” to mark the occasion. Consul General Maeda delivered congratulatory remarks at the event.

One of the similar features both cities share is their founding year of 1971, making this event not only a signing ceremony but a joint 50th anniversary celebration. Chairs of each city’s sister city/friendship associations also delivered remarks and outlined their visions for the start of their exchange activities.

Foster City-Inagi is now the 109th sister city relationship between California and Japan.
