On Monday, August 9, the Consulate General of Japan, in partnership with seven Consulates General of Asian countries in San Francisco and Asia Society Northern California, co-hosted the virtual program “Strengthening Solidarity Against Asian Hate: A Webinar by Asian Consulates General in California.”

Consul General Maeda of Japan and Consul General Neil Frank Ferrer of the Republic of the Philippines in San Francisco gave opening remarks, followed by a statement from California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis and a video message from California Attorney General Rob Bonta. California State Senator Dave Min, Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi, and Assemblymember Phil Ting participated in a panel discussion moderated by Asia Society Executive Director Margaret Conley.

Following the panel discussion, Consul General T.V. Nagendra Prasad of India, Consul General Wang Donghua of the People’s Republic of China, and Consul General Sangsoo Yoon of the Republic of Korea gave comments. A Q&A followed, and representatives from the community and audience members gave comments and asked questions to the speakers. Asia Society Board Vice Chair Lulu Wang delivered closing remarks.
