Earthquake Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Featuring Professor Satoru Nishikawa

On Wednesday, September 1, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco, with participation from the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), hosted the webinar “Earthquake Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Featuring Professor Satoru Nishikawa.”
Consul General Maeda delivered welcome remarks, followed by a video message from California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis. Professor Satoru Nishikawa of Nagoya University presented a special lecture on Japan’s practices and policies for earthquake prevention and mitigation, as well as response. During the Q&A, Cal OES Deputy Director Lori Nezhura gave comments and audience members asked questions to Professor Nishikawa.
California is a disaster-pone area like Japan, and participants reaffirmed the importance of partnership and exchange between Japan and California on the topic of mitigation and preparedness.
