On Friday, October 22, the 2021 California-Japan Sister Cities Fall Workshop was held virtually, tri-hosted by Consul General Hiroshi Kawamura, Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles Akira Muto, and the California-Japan Sister Cities Network (CJSCN). Sister cities of both Northern and Southern California were invited, with a total of about 180 individuals from 59 Californian cities and 21 Japanese cities registered to attend. Under the theme of “Creative Economic Collaborations: Beyond Cultural Exchanges”, participants learned about the exciting activities between Crescent City/Del Norte County, CA and Rikuzentakata, Japan, in addition to a “pop-up” initiative called “Japantenna” coming to San Francisco’s Japantown in November.
