2021/10/26

On Saturday, October 23, the 12th Aki Matsuri (Fall Festival) of Nevada was held at Water Street Plaza in Henderson. Consul General Kawamura attended the event and spoke at the opening ceremony.
As part of the festival, the Consulate, in partnership with Japanese Festival Association of Nevada (JFAN), helped organize the Sake Pavilion. Attendees over 21 were able to sample more than 40 varieties of sake, shochu, and awamori, with background information and pairing suggestions from experts.
Other festival content included Japanese cultural performances, demonstrations, displays, and food. It was the first time for this festival to be held in-person since 2019, and over 10,000 people joined. The festival followed CDC, state, and county guidelines to ensure safety for attendees.
