From 2006 through 2017, Mr. Hashimoto served ten times as a Co-Chair for the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival. This annual community-based festival was first held in 1968 in San Francisco’s Japantown and promotes Japanese culture and friendship between Japan and the United States to audiences of over 200,000 in recent years.

For 20 years, Mr. Hashimoto has served as the President of the Japantown Merchants Association of San Francisco (JMA), a not for profit business organization established in 1972. JMA promotes and markets commerce in San Francisco’s Japantown, including the promotion of Japanese and Japanese American culture through the hosting and support of events and festivals held throughout the year.
