On Saturday, February 19, 2022, the City of Berkeley held a Day of Remembrance event in recognition of the 80th anniversary of the signing and issuance of Executive Order 9066 during World War II. Consul General Kawamura attended and delivered remarks.

The event was organized by the City of Berkeley to honor the 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry who were sent to concentration camps.
