National Day of Japan Flag Raising Ceremony at San Francisco City Hall

On Wednesday, February 23, the National Day of Japan Flag Raising Ceremony was held at San Francisco City Hall coinciding with His Majesty the Emperor of Japan’s Birthday. Consul General Kawamura delivered his remarks, raised the national flag of Japan, and was presented with a proclamation from the City. The ceremony was joined by representatives from the Bay Area Japanese and Japanese American community and officials from the City and County of San Francisco in celebrating the Emperor’s Birthday and continued friendship between San Francisco and Japan. In the evening, City Hall was illuminated in honor of Japan.
