"Wagyu 101" with the Japan Society of Northern California

On Friday, March 11, the Japan Society of Northern California, in cooperation with the Consulate General of Japan and a Japanese Wagyu importer held a “Wagyu 101” event at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California in San Francisco. Deputy Consul General Higuchi attended the event and delivered opening remarks.
Participants listened to an explanation of the unique appeal of Wagyu beef, traditional breeding methods, and the differences in ratings and cuts, including a carving demonstration.
Afterwards, attendees sampled Wagyu beef yakiniku and nigiri sushi. Japanese beverage makers were also present, providing tea, nonalcoholic beer, and whiskey highballs.
