2022/7/20

On Wednesday July 20, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco hosted a virtual Pre-departure Orientation for the 65 new Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program participants who will be departing from San Francisco. Acting Consul General Kishimori gave opening remarks and participants watched video messages from the JET Alumni Association of Northern California and Nevada (JETAANC) and the Association for Japan Exchange and Teaching (AJET). After arriving in Japan, the new JET Program participants will start working as Assistant Language Teachers or Coordinators for International Relations at schools and governmental offices.
The JET program invites college graduates from around the world to participate in internationalization and foreign language education at Japan’s local government offices, boards of education and schools. Program participants serve as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs), Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs) or Sports Exchange Advisors (SEAs). Since the start of the program in 1987, more than 70,000 people from 75 countries have participated.
