On Thursday, October 20, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco and the Japan Society of Northern California co-hosted a seminar, “Building a Green Sustainable Society through California-Japan Collaboration” showcasing how Japanese companies and Silicon Valley start-ups have been working towards reducing carbon emissions and meeting global climate change goals.

In Consul General Noguchi’s opening remarks, he noted the timeliness of program’s theme with Japan and California having signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) focused on strengthening efforts to combat climate change in March. He also expressed optimism that the event would provide further opportunities to exchange knowledge on innovative climate change countermeasures between Japan and California.

Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis also delivered remarks through a video message and spoke about the upcoming trade mission to Japan she will be leading in March of 2023.

Eight companies gave presentations: Honda Innovations, Blue Planet Systems Company, Mitsubishi Corporation (Americas), Orbital Sidekick, NEC X, Inc, Fujitsu Research of America, Inc., H.I.S. U.S.A.
