2023 New Year’s Cocktail Reception

On Wednesday, January 18, Consul General Noguchi hosted a New Year’s reception at his official residence.
In his remarks, Consul General Noguchi wished guests a happy new year and spoke of what lay in store for the Japan-California relationship in the coming year. Following these remarks, a traditional kagami biraki (sake cask-opening ceremony) was held and a toast was led by Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Northern California President Mr. Taiki Ozawa.
Guests enjoyed a mochitsuki (rice pounding) performance by Kagami Kai and ikebana flower arrangements by the Sogetsu School of Ikebana. Osechi-ryori (Japanese New Year’s cuisine) was prepared by the Consul General’s chef, Chef Matsuda.
