Consul General Noguchi gives congratulatory remarks
On Thursday, March 2, Consul General and Mrs. Noguchi hosted the conferment ceremony for Dr. Emily Murase, Executive Director of Japantown Task Force, recipient of the 2021 Foreign Minister’s Commendation as former Northern California Regional Chair of the U.S.-Japan Council, at the Consul General’s official residence.

As past Northern California Regional Chair of the U.S.-Japan Council, Dr. Murase devoted herself to strengthening relations and promoting mutual understanding between Japan and the United States, and as a board member of the San Francisco-Osaka Sister City Association, she has supported student exchange programs for over 15 years, contributing to the grassroots exchange between the two cities. Additionally, she was the first Japanese American elected to the San Francisco Board of Education, contributing to Japanese language education in the city’s public schools. For these achievements, she was awarded this commendation in August of 2021.
