Online seminar: Railroads in Japan vs California - Differences and Future Prospects
2023/3/14
On Thursday, March 9, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco held an online seminar entitled "Railroads in Japan vs California - Differences and Future Prospects."
This seminar was held with the aim of sharing Japan's best practices in promoting railway use in California, based on the Memorandum of Cooperation on Strengthening Efforts to Combat Climate Change and Economic and Trade Relations between the Government of Japan and the State of California, the United States of America signed by Ambassador Tomita and Governor Newsom in March of 2022.
Following opening remarks by Consul General Noguchi, the program featured a presentation by Railroad expert Mr. Yu HANAKURA, who is knowledgeable about railroads in both Japan and California, followed by a Q&A session with the audience, including transportation officials and railroad operators in California. We hope that this seminar will contribute to the development of medium-to-long-term planning and policy for California's railroads in the future.
