On Saturday, April 29, Consul General Noguchi participated in the 54th Annual Manzanar Pilgrimage held at Manzanar National Park Historic Site. Prior to the ceremony, Consul General Noguchi joined the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Northern California (JCCNC) for tour of the internment camp from National Park rangers and dedicated flowers at the Manzanar Cemetery Monument.

During World War II, more than 10,000 individuals of Japanese descent were incarcerated at what was then the Manzanar War Relocation Center, one of ten such camps in the United States. The Annual Manzanar Pilgrimage is held to educate and raise public awareness about the incarceration.
