Consul General Noguchi Attends 2023 SF Giants Japanese Heritage Night
2023/5/17
On Tuesday, May 16, Consul General Noguchi attended the San Francisco Giants’ 2023 Japanese Heritage Night at Oracle Park. Consul General Noguchi went on-field during the pre-game program, which featured a performance by Uzumaru Yosakoi and the singing of the Star Spangled Banner by local Japanese choir Chorale May.
This year’s event celebrated the 120th anniversary of the founding of the San Francisco Fuji Athletic Club, the first Japanese American baseball team in the continental United States, cofounded by the famous Japanese American painter Chiura Obata, whose architect son, Gyo Obata, designed the Giants’ stadium, Oracle Park. Chiura’s Grandson and Gyo’s Son, Max Obata threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
We would like to thank the San Francisco Giants, the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California, and the San Francisco Bay Area Japanese and Japanese American community for a great event.
