2023 JET Alumni Association NatCon and Welcome Back Reception
2023/9/11

On Friday-Sunday, September 8-10, the JET Alumni Association National Conference (NatCon) was held at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS) in Monterey, California, with support from the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco.
NatCon is annual gathering of JET alumni leaders to connect, share ideas, and help their chapters grow. Speaking to the attendees of the conference, Consul General Noguchi shared how JET participants and alumni associations have played an important role in US-Japan relationships. The conference was joined by notable guests such as the former Consul General of the United States in Osaka-Kobe, Ms. Karen Kelley and the former Ambassador from Japan to Ireland and Executive Advisor to the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations, Mr. Mitsuru Kitano.
On Saturday, September 9, in conjunction with NatCon, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco hosted a Welcome Back Reception at MIIS for recent JET Returnees. This year marks the first time the reception has been held since 2019 and as such JET alumni who returned in 2020-2023 were invited to attend. Attendees of the National Conference were invited to join the Welcome Back Reception, giving recently returned JETs the unique opportunity to connect with JET alumni association leaders from around the world as well as Japanese government representatives.
More information on the JET Program is available on the JET Program USA Website.
