Presentation of Foreign Minister’s Commendation to Mr. Oda
Consul General Noguchi congratulates Mr. Oda
On Saturday, September 9, Consul General Noguchi presented Mr. Tsuneo Larry Oda, National President of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), with the 2022 Foreign Minister’s Commendation at a ceremony held in Monterey by the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco.
Mr. Oda has been a member of the JACL for more than 60 years, has served as the Monterey Peninsula Chapter President for seven consecutive terms, served as the National President for two consecutive terms from 2006 to 2010, and again as the National President last year. As part of his efforts to preserve Japanese American history, Mr. Oda has worked to publish a history of Japanese immigration to the Monterey Peninsula in the U.S. and Japan, promoting mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and the United States of America. For these achievements, he was awarded this commendation in August of 2022.
