On Wednesday, January 17, Consul General Osumi hosted a reception at his official residence for women entrepreneurs from Japan, dispatched to the Bay Area through the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI)’s J-StarX program. During the event, the nine entrepreneurs gave pitches on their businesses and projects to an audience of venture capitalists and founders, including Ms. Fran Maier, co-founder of Match.com.
In addition, Ms. Ari Horie, CEO & Founder of Women's Startup Lab (WSL), supporting women entrepreneurs, presented a toast. Ms. Horie and the staff of WSL hosted and coached the entrepreneurs in the months leading up to this event. This reception celebrated the efforts of the entrepreneurs while providing them a chance to grow their connections in the Bay Area, the North American market, and with major companies outside the United States. Following the pitches, guests enjoyed a networking reception.
