On Saturday and Sunday, March 16-17, Ikebana International San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (IISF) held their biennial flower show in Golden Gate Park, featuring arrangements and demonstrations by members. Ms. Yuriko Sugahara, Advisor for Cultural and Educational Affairs joined the opening ceremony, speaking on the significance of Ikebana International’s activities in helping to introduce Japanese culture through Ikebana to a diverse audience.
IISF was founded in 1960 and provides a forum for members and the public to learn about the many schools, technics and aesthetics of Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging. This year’s exhibition featured over 60 arrangements representing eight schools of ikebana.
