Consul General Osumi Attends 2024 San Francisco Giants Japanese Heritage Night
2024/5/20

On Friday, May 17, Consul General Osumi attended the San Francisco Giants’ 2024 Japanese Heritage Night at Oracle Park. Consul General Osumi was interviewed on-field during the pre-game program, which also featured a taiko drumming performance by CAL Raijin Taiko, a dance performance by Ito Yosakoi, and a koto (Japanese zither) rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner by Shirley Kazuyo Muramoto.
The ceremonial first pitch was thrown by Mr. Masanori “Mashi” Murakami. This year’s event celebrated the 60th anniversary of Mr. Murakami as the first Japanese player to play in Major League Baseball when he first pitched for the San Francisco Giants in 1964.
We would like to thank the San Francisco Giants, the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California, and the San Francisco Bay Area Japanese and Japanese American community for a great event.
