2024 Sonoma County MATSURI! Japanese Arts Festival

On Sunday, May 19, the 2024 Sonoma County MATSURI! Japanese Arts Festival was held in Juilliard Park in Santa Rosa. Consul General Osumi attended the festival, giving remarks during the opening ceremony highlighting the long history of Sonoma County’s relationship with Japan, and the role of grassroots events like Sonoma MATSURI! in strengthening the strong ties between Japan and Northern California. Other speakers included the festival’s Board of Directors, Santa Rosa Mayor Natalie Rogers, and Vice Mayor Mark Stapp.
The festival featured a variety of Japanese cultural performances and activities, including taiko drumming, traditional dance, ikebana, and martial arts. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about Japanese culture, travel, the JET Program, studying in Japan, and Expo 2025 at the Consulate’s information booth.
