Consul General Osumi introduces Expo 2025 mascot Myaku-Myaku at the Opening Ceremony
On Friday, May 24 through Sunday, May 26, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco joined in the 30th FanimeCon anime convention, held in San Jose, California.
On Friday, May 24, Consul General Osumi joined the opening ceremonies, congratulating FanimeCon on 30 years, and expressing how attendees have formed connections to Japan and Japanese culture through their appreciation of Anime.
 
The Consulate also held two panels, “Anime Beyond Akiba” on Saturday, May 25, and “JET Program 101” on Sunday, May 26. In “Anime Beyond Akiba”, three panelists spoke on anime-related destinations to explore outside of Tokyo. Attendees were also able to hear about Expo 2025, travel tips, and resources to consider when planning their next trip to Japan. In “JET Program 101”, three JET Program alumni spoke on their experiences and attendees were able to ask questions about the program.
 
The Consulate also held an information booth on Saturday and Sunday, offering information on travel, the JET Program, studying abroad, and Expo 2025.
