Hanami Line Capital Campaign Celebration in Sacramento

On Thursday, June 20, Consul General Osumi participated in the capital campaign celebration for the Hanami Line project at Robert T. Matsui Park in Sacramento, where he joined other stakeholders to mark its opening after over a decade of anticipation. He also awarded his Consul General’s Commendation to the Sacramento Tree Foundation that has led the project from the beginning. The Hanami Line will be an important cultural and community space for Sacramento residents and visitors to enjoy springtime cherry blossoms along the Sacramento River, as well as honor the historic Japanese American community of the Sacramento area. Additionally, the tile road that is included in the landscaping points in the direction of Sacramento’s sister city of Matsuyama, Japan, the citizens of which helped raise funds for the Hanami Line project.
