On Monday, July 22, a sister city agreement was signed between the cities of Daly City, California and Izumisano, Osaka, Japan in a ceremony at Daly City City Hall. Izumisano Mayor Hiroyasu Chiyomatsu and Daly City Mayor Juslyn Manalo signed the agreement to mark the official start of exchanges between their cities.

To commemorate the signing, a mile marker pointing to Izumisano was installed outside the Daly City Hall. At the installation ceremony, Consul General Osumi delivered a congratulatory speech, and the Chair of the Board of Directors of Sister Cities International (SCI) Carlo Capua was also present. SCI plans to hold a U.S.-Japan Sister Cities Summit in the host city of Izumisano in September 2025.

Daly City-Izumisano is now the 110th sister city relationship between California and Japan.
