Remarks from recent Cupertino student delegate to Toyokawa Jocelyn Fu
On Tuesday, August 6, Cupertino-Toyokawa Sister Cities held a bell-ringing ceremony to mark the 79th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Toyokawa was also hit with conventional bombs on August 7, 1945, and Cupertino commemorated this anniversary as well. Consul General Yo Osumi attended and gave remarks, paying tribute to the victims of the bombings and expressing his hope for lasting peace around the world. He also noted that grassroots exchange is key to friendly and peaceful relations, highlighting the work of sister cities and recent commendations awarded to Cupertino High School students for their dedication to learning Japanese, thus forming a bridge between Japan and the United States.
