Revitalizing Japanese Language Classes Meeting
2024/8/14

On Wednesday, August 8, Japanese language teachers and students, community members, and representatives of Japanese community organizations convened at the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco to share their thoughts on revitalizing Japanese language classes in the area.
Consul General Yo Osumi encouraged this community-led effort and acknowledged that fortifying Japanese language education must be an evolutionary, inclusive and ever growing process. Cupertino High School Japanese language students gave a presentation about the significance of their school’s Japanese language program and the impact it had on their personal experiences as a student studying Japanese.
Afterwards, participants exchanged ideas for creating opportunities to learn about Japanese culture and language at community and school events, and how to provide more practical, career-driven opportunities to further motivate students to learn Japanese.
If you are a teacher, student, or a general community member that is interested in how you can get involved, please send your inquiry to our Education Coordinator at education@sr.mofa.go.jp.
