Inaugural International Disaster Preparedness Meeting

On Friday, August 9, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco held a working lunch to bring together members of the international Consular Corps, academia, and local government for an inaugural meeting to share ideas regarding international disaster preparedness.
Participants discussed earthquake early warning system technology in the United States, as well as programs run by the San Francisco Fire Department and California state government. The meeting concluded after laying groundwork for a public-facing seminar to share best practices and policies for advancing disaster preparedness across industry, academic, and government circles.
