Concord-Kitakami 50th Sister City Anniversary Dinner

On Thursday, October 3, Consul General Yo Osumi delivered opening remarks at the 50th anniversary dinner for the Concord-Kitakami sister city relationship in Concord, California. Concord and Kitakami (Iwate Prefecture) have been sister cities since 1974 and have engaged in various exchange activities over the decades including a successful Assistant English Language Teacher program in Kitakami. The event, organized by the volunteer organization Concord Ambassadors, was well-attended and included local politicians such as Concord Mayor Edi Birsan and the Concord City Council, as well as a delegation of 38 people from Kitakami, led by Mayor Hirofumi Yaegashi. During his remarks, Consul General Osumi also presented a commendation to Concord Ambassadors to commemorate the occasion.
