Keynote Presentation by Sen. Becker
On Monday, October 21, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco held an informational AI event co-hosted by the Japan Society of Northern California and Digital Garage. The event aimed to shed light on California’s AI regulations as well as the ongoing AI initiatives occurring at Japanese companies.
Consul General Yo Osumi kicked off the event with opening remarks about Japan’s AI governance efforts and cutting-edge AI technologies in Japan. California State Senator Josh Becker gave the keynote presentation on his “California AI Transparency Act” and other AI governance efforts in the state.
Following Senator Becker’s presentation, Japanese corporations (Fujitsu, Hitachi, NEC, NTT) gave presentations on their various AI projects and research. There were also presentations by Japanese startups (Fracta, Glasp, Omnkey, RevComm, SOURCENEXT, TieSet) on their innovative use cases of AI. The event was moderated by Japanese comedian Naoko Nozawa.
