Foreign Minister’s Commendation Presented to Cathy Inamasu at Nihonmachi Little Friends’ Sushi Social

On Friday, November 22, Consul General Yo Osumi presented Ms. Cathy Inamasu, past Executive Director of NLF with the 2022 Foreign Minister’s Commendation for her contributions to strengthening the relationship between Japan and the United States. The ceremony was held during NLF's annual Sushi Social fundraiser at the organization’s facilities in San Francisco Japantown.
Consul General and Mrs. Osumi toured the historic Japanese YWCA building founded by Issei women before joining community members for a sushi dinner.
The evening’s program also featured an update on “Dreams Interrupted”, a multimedia project aiming to document and share the experiences of the first-generation of Japanese women immigrants.
NLF is a community-based, nonprofit Japanese bilingual and multicultural childcare organization with a mission that includes introducing and engaging new generations of families to the history, culture, and community of San Francisco’s Japantown.
