Osaka University Holds DeepTech Showcase at the Japan Innovation Campus
2024/12/9

On Wednesday, December 4, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco supported Osaka University’s DeepTech Showcase at the Japan Innovation Campus in Palo Alto. This event was hosted by Osaka University, the Japan Society of Northern California (JSNC) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in San Francisco. At this event, representatives from Osaka University introduced the university’s efforts to translate lab research into marketable solutions that create a positive impact on society.
Startups that have sprung from Osaka University research pitched themselves to an audience of Bay Area investors and academics. Some of these startups have received funding from Osaka University’s venture arm and all are participants or candidates for Berkeley SkyDeck’s Innovation Partners Program, an acceleration program at UC Berkeley that prepares startups to enter the US or other international markets. In addition, Osaka University researchers demoed cutting-edge technologies from their labs with startup potential. These startups (Thinker, Atransen Pharma, MyImmune, and JiMED) and researchers presented innovative solutions in biomanufacturing, diagnostics, novel disease treatments, and beyond.
Finally, Deputy Consul General Takeshi Ishihara gave closing remarks, commenting that the innovative startups coming out of Osaka University are a vital part of Japan’s growing innovation ecosystem.
