Japan-Nevada Collaboration Event & Reception at CES 2025

On Tuesday, January 7, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco, in partnership with the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), hosted the “Japan-Nevada Collaboration Event & Reception at CES 2025” in Las Vegas, in conjunction with CES, one of the world's largest technology exhibitions. The event brought together more than 100 attendees from business, government, and the Japanese community to showcase collaboration between Japan and Nevada.
In the first half of the event, following a promotion for Expo 2025 in Osaka, MGM Resorts presented on their vision for constructing an integrated resort on the Expo site after its conclusion. Subsequently, two of Japan's leading gaming companies, Konami and Sega Sammy, introduced their respective initiatives. Coinciding with CES, business presentations were delivered by Hitachi and Panasonic, highlighting potential collaborations between Japan and Nevada in technology fields.
In the latter half of the event, a New Year networking reception was held. The event was emceed by Kathleen Blakely, Honorary Consul of Japan in Las Vegas. At the beginning of the event, Consul General Yo Osumi delivered opening remarks, emphasizing that the event not only served as a platform for presenting economic cooperation and technological innovation between Japan and Nevada but also celebrated the ties between the Japanese community and the state of Nevada. He expressed his hope that the participants would build new relationships and ideas through the event, further strengthening the bonds between Japan and Nevada.
Lieutenant Governor Stavros Anthony, representing the Nevada state government, praised Japan’s innovation and historical technological excellence. He expressed expectations for fostering mutual understanding, promoting sustainable innovation, and creating new business opportunities through collaboration between Japan and Nevada.
During the reception, Consul General Osumi, Lieutenant Governor Anthony, Honorary Consul Blakely, and Nevada State Assemblymember Heidi Kasama performed a traditional kagami-biraki, or sake cask-opening ceremony, after which participants networked to deepen their connections.
