Presentation of Foreign Minister’s Commendation to Mr. Minami

On Wednesday, February 5, Consul General Yo Osumi presented Mr. Dale Minami, co-founder and Senior Counsel of Minami Tamaki LLP,with the 2023 Foreign Minister’s Commendation at a ceremony held at his official residence.
Mr. Minami has a distinguished record of leading pro bono legal teams in challenging the wartime internment of Japanese Americans, culminating in the landmark overturning of the United States Supreme Court’s conviction of Fred Korematsu. He has been involved in numerous significant cases concerning the civil rights of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, including Japanese Americans.
Mr. Minami has also helped empower the Asian American community by cofounding the nation's first Asian American community law firm (Asian Law Caucus) and the first Asian American Bar Association (the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area)
For these achievements, which have greatly contributed to the post-war advancement of Japanese Americans in the United States, he was conferred the Foreign Minister’s Commendation.
