Opening Ceremony for Japantenna: Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai Pop-Up Experience

On Friday, February 28, Consul General Yo Osumi attended and gave remarks at the opening ceremony of “Japantenna: Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai Pop-Up Experience” in San Francisco Japantown. State Senator Scott Wiener, State Assemblymember Catherine Stefani, Board of Supervisors President Rafael Mandelman, District 1 Supervisor Connie Chan, and District 5 Supervisor Bilal Mahmood also attended and spoke, participating in the ribbon-cutting along with Expo 2025’s official mascot, Myaku Myaku.
At the exhibit, visitors learned about the Expo and the Kansai region’s culture and attractions. From February 28 to March 2, Myaku Myaku walked around Japantown to promote the Expo.
Japantenna is a non-profit “antenna shop” project that focuses on the local specialties, products, and attractions of Japan’s prefectures and regions, seeking to promote trade and investment between Japan and San Francisco, tourism exchange, and the revitalization of Japantown.
