On Thursday, March 6, Consul General Yo Osumi visited Elk Grove Unified School District’s (EGUSD) Elk Grove High School and Laguna Creek High School in Elk Grove, and California State University, Sacramento to learn more about their Japanese language programs. Students asked questions about his life as a diplomat and the duties of the Consulate.
 
In Elk Grove, Consul General Osumi also met with the principals of both high schools, EGUSD district staff, including Superintendent Christopher Hoffman, to present a Certificate of Appreciation for their dedication to providing their students with quality Japanese language education.
 
During his visit to California State University, Sacramento, Consul General Osumi was welcomed into the Sokiku Nakatani Tea Room and Garden at the University Library by a group of faculty, staff and students. He listened to informative presentations about Sacramento’s history of Japanese Americans, the university’s Japanese language program, and the activities of their Japan Club.
 
The visit to Sacramento concluded with discussion dinner that gathered Japanese language teachers from all around the greater Sacramento area.
