The 58th Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival First Weekend

On Saturday, April 12 and Sunday April 13, the first weekend of the 58th Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival was held in San Francisco Japantown. Consul General Yo Osumi joined San Francisco District 5 Supervisor Bilal Mahmood and a number of community leaders in the opening ceremony, expressing his appreciation to the all-volunteer organizing committee led by Co-Chairs Mr. Matt Nagatomi and Ms. Yuki Nishimura, and for the festival as a tremendous opportunity for attendees to experience Japanese culture and the Japan-Northern California friendship.
Consulate staff also provided information on EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Kansai; travel in Japan; the JET Program; and educational opportunities at its information booth.
The Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival is a two-weekend-long street festival which showcases Japanese cultural performances and a variety of Japan-related booths. The 58th festival continues on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20, culminating in the Grand Parade on the final day.
