2025/5/12

On Wednesday, May 7, Consul General Yo Osumi attended “Asia’s Brightest in Silicon Valley,” a pitch event for top Japanese and Singaporean tech startups. With an audience of about 100 people, the event was hosted by the Japan Innovation Campus in Palo Alto and the Silicon Valley branch of BLOCK71, a global startup accelerator from NUS Enterprise, the entrepreneurial division of the National University of Singapore (NUS).
The event began with an overview of both countries’ startup ecosystems and related policies, with Genta Ando, Executive Director of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in San Francisco, detailing Japan’s initiatives, and Tan Sian Wee, Senior VP of Innovation and Enterprise at NUS, highlighting developments in Singapore. Afterwards, startups presented their innovative solutions in areas such as manufacturing, gaming, hiring, robotics, AI, and medicine. Japanese startups included Kailas Robotics, Qlay, RevComm, Chiptip Technology, Cuorips, and Universal Brain. Singaporean startups included Impress.ai, SimpleAI, Smobler, Factorem, and Baz AI. Following each pitch, startups took questions from a panel of venture capitalists representing various Silicon Valley firms.
The event ended with remarks from Consul General of the Republic of Singapore in San Francisco Craig Lim and Consul General Osumi. Guests enjoyed networking over Japanese and Singaporean culinary delights.
