Ritsumeikan University San Francisco Office Kickoff Event

On Tuesday, May 27, Consul General Yo Osumi attended a kick-off event celebrating the official opening of Ritsumeikan University’s San Francisco Office. As one of the top private universities in Japan, Ritsumeikan has a strong global presence, and the San Francisco office is the university’s 7th overseas outpost.
The event, held at the Japan Innovation Campus in Palo Alto, began with opening remarks from Consul General Osumi, who expressed a hope that the new office would enable Ritsumeikan to expand the international reach of Japanese research. Afterwards, Professor Masato Miyake, Director of Ritsumeikan’s San Francisco Office, gave a presentation on some of his office’s beginning projects in the Bay Area. Later, Ritsumeikan professors gave presentations on the university’s activities in Earth and space exploration, ocean habitat management, science and technology study aboard programs, and non-profit initiatives. The event closed with remarks from Mr. Yotetsu Hayashi, Chief Executive Director of the Japan External Trade Organization's (JETRO) San Francisco office.
