From Monday, July 28 to Wednesday, July 30, Consul General Yo Osumi, Deputy Consul General Takeshi Ishihara, and other consular representatives attended the 3rd annual Japan – US Research Collaboration Week, an event that connects science and technology experts from Japanese and American universities, government agencies, businesses, and venture capital firms to facilitate cross-border research collaboration. Hosted by Stanford University School of Medicine and the Japan Science and Technology Agency, the theme for this year’s event was "Building Bridges for Sustainable Innovation Across Borders."

The event kicked off on Monday morning, with Consul General Osumi delivering remarks during the opening plenary of the symposium. In his speech, Consul General Osumi expressed a desire for continued collaboration between Japan and the US while highlighting new Japanese government initiatives, such as the J-RISE program, that aim to promote talent exchange between universities in both countries.

Over the course of three days, subject matter experts hosted an array of engaging discussion sessions that covered topics such as AI in healthcare, disaster preparedness, the intersection of space and medicine, and the growth of the Japanese tech startup ecosystem.
