Eyewitness for Peace in San Francisco Japantown

On Saturday, August 9, the event “Eyewitness for Peace – the 80th Anniversary Commemoration of the Atomic Bombings” was held in San Francisco Japantown in remembrance of 80 years since the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The event was organized by the Nichi Bei Foundation, Friends of Hibakusha, the Japanese American Religious Federation, the National Japanese American Historical Society, and others.
Consul General Yo Osumi joined the program, participating in a lantern ceremony alongside San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan, survivors of the bombings, families of victims, and other representatives to honor the victims and hope for peace.
The program included stories from survivors and a presentation by Manon and Kanon Iwata, the cofounders of Teens 4 Disarmament & Nonproliferation.
